Short Beach Poems

A sunburnt face,
Sand between my toes,
The smell of firewood
In all of my clothes
Tired and dusty,
Full of hot dogs and smore's
A day at the beach
Who could ask for more?

As the warmth of an embrace.

Along the sea
Where dusk sits on the land
And search with me
For shells are free,
And treasures hide in sand.

As sand creatures cause the sand to bristle
Seagulls gliding in the air with screams and whistles
Kids picking up shells and building stormy sand castles

Ocean breeze blowing, feet kick and splash,
Ocean waves breaking, on rocks with a crash.

Boys finding seashells, girls sifting sand,
Friends building castles, as high as they can.

I stretch my arms out, far as they'll reach
Oh, my what fun, on this day at the beach.

From here to there.

And beyond where the beach ends.
Past indifferent sea gulls.

Over beached kelps.
Over bleached sea shells.

To the sound of crushing waves.
To the call of ebbing memories.

It take us only ten minutes to.
Walk to the beach.

Watching the setting sun.

Holding hands and reminiscing.

The smell of ocean to my nose.
I can feel each grain of sand
It falls from air into my hand.

If I had the power of speech
I would tell you all
To throw my ball

makes any day a delight.
Hunting for seashells
and surfing the waves

A veering, steady shadow
Purrs the motor-call
Of the man bird
Ready with the death laughter
In his throat

The love of the big blue beyond.
