Diwali is the festival of lights and is celebrated by Indians and all over the world. People spend 5 days of Diwali festival with joy, splendor, and happiness.

The first day of Diwali - Dhanteras

This day is the start of Deepawali celebrations. On this day at sunset, Hindus should bath and offer a lighted deeya with Prasad to Yama Raj. This day is also known as Dhanwantari Triodasi, Dhanvantari Triodasi and Dhan Theras.

The second day of Diwali - Choti Diwali

On this day, people should massage tha body with oil, bathe & rest so that Diwali can be celebarated with devotion. Second day of deewali is also called Narak Chaturdasi.

The third day of Diwali - Lakshmi Puja on Diwali

This is the day when Hindus  perform worship to Mother Lakshmi with their family and pandit.

The fourth day of Diwali - Padwa and Govardhan Puja

On 4th day of diwali Govardhan Pooja is performed.

The fifth day of Diwali - Bhai Duj

It is a day dedicated to sisters. This day is the end of Diwali celebrations. Diwali 5th day is also known as Bhratri Dooj and Bhai fota among Bengalis.

Diwali is an Indian festival. Diwali has significant importance in Hinduism, Sikhism and Jainism. Now a days it is celebrated by Hindus, Jains and Sikhs across the globe as the Festival of Light.
